Spine Date Seed is a flat sphere-shaped or nearly oval shape seed, outwardly purplish-red or purplish-brown in colour, smooth and glossy in texture, often with cracks in between. Some specimens have rounded protruding edges; some have one comparatively flat side. Center has one swelling longitudinal streak, another side is little elevated. One end is depressed, can see lined hilum, another end has small raised chalaza. Spine Date Seed coat is comparatively inelastic, faintly aromatic, tasteless and pale yellow in colour.
