Salicin is an organic substance, colorless crystal or white powder, soluble in water, easily soluble in boiling water, insoluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether or chloroform. It widely exists in the bark and leaves of many willow and poplar plants. For example, the water content of salicin in purple willow bark can reach 30%.
